Getting more followers on Instagram may seem like an uphill struggle, however it need not be and can be easily done with the right mind-set.

There are a number of ways that businesses and successful bloggers are using to get more followers and we asked Instagram tool Instamacro if they were happy to share them with us. They were – so read on.

Instagram

Communicate

Some users believe that setting up their account and putting up pictures is all that Instagram is about. If you want followers, however, you are going to have to communicate with them. This means posting questions, reading responses and adding comments of your own. By doing this, you can get to know the people that are interested in your account. They, in turn, will feel a connection with you and are more likely to make comments and interact with you on social media. And, the more people that you have commenting and engaging with you, the more people that will WANT to comment and engage with you.

If you want more followers, look for accounts that have the kind of followers that you are interested in. Comment on posts. Increase your visibility. Those followers may then want to see what you are doing as a result. This is a great way to gain new followers with just a little bit of effort on your part. When you are interacting with these individuals, pose questions that will help you get to know them or that will help you understand what they are looking for in terms of content. Always stay positive so that people will want to interact with you.

Hashtags are your friend

When it comes to using Instagram, hashtags are an important part of the process. However, you can’t just throw up any old words, put a pound sign in front of them, and call yourself done. You need to pair certain hashtags with certain posts. You need to be careful about how many you add as well; three, four or five hashtags is usually best.

In addition, your hashtags need to be related to the image that you have up. Don’t put up hashtags just to have them there. Your post will not make any sense. It is often best to have your hashtags composed of two descriptive words. For instance, you might post #CrunchyCarrot or #TaupeEyeshadow.

While it may be tempting to use a very popular hashtag, it actually won’t do that much for you. If so many other posts already have that hashtag in them, your post is not as likely to get seen. Therefore, if you put up a hashtag that is not quite as popular, but still descriptive, you will have much more success. Remember, between three and five hashtags is ideal.

Stay positive

When it comes to Instagram, you do not want to be negative in any way. Followers are looking for positivity; they will come to you if you set up a community that makes them feel good. They need to feel comfortable making comments and engaging with others.

If negative content is posted, take quick steps to get rid of it. By doing so, only the positive comments will be highlighted. It just takes one negative comment to create a problem. Before you know it, users will begin saying mean things to one another, and suddenly, your community is not as welcoming as it should be. Make sure you take an active role and know what is going on. If someone new takes a look at your posts and sees all that arguing, he or she is not going to want to stick around.

Get influencers on your side

Influencers are important to Instagram. If you want to ensure that you get a lot followers, it may be worth it to pay influencers for their help. However, do your research so that you don’t wind up paying too much for this service.
