Developing high quality content is a key factor to the success of most web businesses.

Content takes on different forms, whether that is text, image, graphics or videos. The content will be the driving force with gaining increased web traffic, social engagements, web discussions and links. If you want your audience to take action, you must have a successful process that will allow you to create the type of content that your audience desires. Below are tips from digital marketing agencies that every content creator should consider.

content

1. Thou shall know the audience they are creating the content for.

Many web publishers get this wrong and it is where their strategy fails before they have even begun. If you want to build an audience, you need to know what type of content they want to digest and communicate that to them. Before you write a word, you should learn who the audience is and exactly what type of content they are interested in.

2. Thou shall give the audience the content that they want!

While this seems like a no brainer, many content publishers tend to focus on developing the content that they want to provide, rather than delivering what their audience is craving for. By making sure you deliver the content that your audience wants, you can guarantee that you will have a higher success rate when it comes to your audience engaging with your content.

3. Thou shall tell a story!

No matter what your content is, you should be able to improve the interest of your content by telling it as a story. You can collect the facts, figures and data, however your content needs to engage your audience in a story sequence. To do this, you need to develop a story angle for your audience that will keep them interested. This may be human interest, news revelations, learning materials, point of views or discussions.

4. Thou shall develop quality.

The quality of your work will dictate the long-term success. If you decide to publish content, aim to give it your all to maximize the best opportunity for your success. Seek to gather facts, figures, quotes, comments and other resources to add credibility and interest to your content.

5. Thou shall not duplicate content.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of poor content that exists on the web. This has been caused by the majority of web publishers aiming to deliver quantity over quality. Web publishers (in particular, black hat SEOs) have done this in the form of article spinning or by plagiarizing content. Google has its Panda algorithm rolling to combat this; however it is in the best interest of the content creator to develop original or curate content. Never duplicate!

6. Thou shall not be afraid to link out.

Many people have been told by SEOs that it is bad to link out to other sites as it will take away the authority that is being passed to that page. While this is partially true, web publishers can expect to gain more credibility and potentially more inbound links if their audience finds the links useful. Ultimately, it is about linking naturally to websites. Worst case scenario, the nofollow attribute can be added to the link.

7. Thou shall research performing content.

You want to be confident that the content that you will be developing will give you a strong chance of doing well. The best approach is to look at other content that has done well. You can look into content that has performed well on social media such as Twitter or Pinterest and create your own original version.

8. Thou shall develop clickable headlines!

If you want people to read your content, you need to develop a pitch in your headline that captivates the reader to click and read what it is you are communicating. Numerous websites like Distractify, Bored Panda and Buzzfeed are clever with their headline developments. For example, “15 ways college actually prepared you for real life” and “16 Snapchats every girl at the Melbourne cup will have sent”.

9. Thou shall communicate their point clearly and effectively.

People get distracted on the web easily. The last thing you want is for someone to start viewing your content only to leave and never return again because you rattled off onto another tangent, or that you weren’t able to illustrate your story clearly to them.

10. Thou shall format the content for users.

You need to polish off your content by formatting it in a way so that is easy to for your audience to consume the information. This means ensuring that spelling and punctuation is correct. That headings and any rich media content is formatted correctly.
The success of your web campaign will always start with the content that you are delivering. Ensure that you develop a process where your content creation methods will maximize your website’s activity that’s tailored to your desired actions.
